Renewable energy is becoming increasingly important in the UK power generation industry, particularly in view of the European Union's strict energy policy targets being introduced to combat climate change.
Scotland is a hub for marine energy projects, comprising of wave, tidal, offshore wind and hydroelectric schemes. Its significance as a centre for UK renewable energy has been underlined by the recent announcement by the Crown Estate to lease ten sections of the Scottish seabed for marine energy project development, with further leasing rounds planned.
This rapid growth brings a number of challenges and risks at every stage. At the same time, projects need to meet regulatory standards and expectations and be in line with targets set by Government. This seminar will consider the risks associated with design, installation, through-life operation and maintenance, and examine the expectations from regulators, Government and end-users.
