Job Description
Role Description:
A Marine Systems Design Engineer is responsible for the conduct of Marine Systems Design activities in support of defence and commercial clients and the management of small project teams conducting Marine Systems Design activities.
Activities include:
Basic design and arrangement of maritime and offshore systems
Detail design and arrangement of maritime and offshore systems
Production of P&IDs
Troubleshooting of existing systems Liaison with manufacturers and clients
Modification of existing systems
Miscellaneous mechanical design tasks not associated with the Marine
Environment
Project management
Qualifications:
Degree Qualified in Marine Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with suitable additional experience*
Chartered Engineer registered with Engineering Council

Experience:
Supervision of small design teams
Use of the following software - Autocad, MathCad
Marine system design or modification - classification society rules
Marine system design or modification - defence standards
Knowledge of the following systems in the maritime or offshore environment*
- HP and LP air
- Fluid systems (Fuel, Oil, ballast, Freshwater)
- Sewage, black and grey water treatment
- Steam systems
- Hydraulics
- Power generation and distribution
- Propulsion and manoeuvring systems
Broad general knowledge of maritime industry including ship design, building, operation and repair.* Marine Engineering Sea-time or other practical experience.
